TICKETS NOW ON SALE!!
The Haslemere Players are delighted to present Lionel Bart’s much loved musical masterpiece - “Oliver!” - which brings vividly to life the immortal classic by Charles Dickens and transports you back to Victorian London with a smile on your face! The show will run at the Haslemere Hall from Tuesday 20th-Saturday 24th March 2012 and tickets are now on sale through the Haslemere Hall.
This is the timeless story of a young orphan boy who, because he “wanted more”, is taken away from the Workhouse where he was born and apprenticed to unkind undertakers, causing him to run away to London! On arrival, he stumbles accidentally into a life of crime after meeting the persuasive Artful Dodger, who in turn introduces Oliver to Fagin, a lovable rogue and the ringleader of a gang of young pickpockets.
The fabulous cast of colourful and memorable characters also includes Mr. Bumble, the pompous Beadle; Nancy, a warm-hearted lass who takes Oliver under her wing; her lover Bill Sykes, a violent and menacing villain; and Mr. Brownlow, a kindly old gentleman who rescues Oliver from the clutches of crime...or so he thinks!
Ever-popular, uplifting musical numbers like Food Glorious Food, Consider Yourself, Pick a Pocket or Two, Reviewing the Situation and Oom Pah Pah, will have you cheering and clapping in the aisles, but get your hankies ready for sad and soul searching songs such as Where is Love? and As Long as He Needs Me!
A heart-warming show, guaranteed to make you ask for more!

There's a role for everyone |
|
The Haslemere Players is an amateur theatre company dedicated to staging popular musical theatre productions of the highest possible standard. Our shows regularly win awards of excellence from NODA (the National Operatic and Dramatic Association). Audiences, performers, technicians and production teams come from all over the surrounding area and in the main from within ten miles of the town, making this a genuine community effort in which we think 'there's a role for everyone'. |
