Footloose, 19-23 March 2024
Based on the 1984 film with Kevin Bacon and Sarah Jessica Parker, Footloose tells the of city boy Ren who reluctantly moves with his mother to a rural town in America where dancing is banned. All hell breaks loose and Ren soon has the town up on its feet. Featuring 80s classics; ‘Let’s Hear It For The Boys’, ‘Holding Out for a Hero’ and the title song ‘Footloose’, this feel good musical is bursting with youthful energy, a good dose of nostalgia and a lot of heart!
We are excited to have the Legally Blonde team back together with Fiona McGregor directing, and Justin Luke as MD.
Little Shop of Horrors, 6-8 June 2024
Taking a break from Show Stoppers next year, we’re excited to share we’ll instead be staging Little Shop of Horrors. This cult favourite from the creative geniuses Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) is the story of floral assistant Seymour Krelborn, who stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his co worker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Seymour, so long as he keeps feeding it blood… Andy Boughton (The Gondoliers, Half a Sixpence) will be returning to Direct.
The Addams Family, 22-26 October 2024
The Addams Family is a comical feast with all the characters you know and love from the original story. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
Kim Seymour (Kipps: The New Half A Sixpence, My Fair Lady) is signed up to direct, with Lizzie Hales (Evita, Anything Goes) as Musical Director.
With three new titles for the Players, we’re really excited about the year ahead and hope you’ll feel inspired to join us on the journey.
