Our next production is Gilbert & Sullivan’s, The Gondoliers.

The read through/presentation evening will be at The Grove at 7.30pm on Tuesday 30 October with auditions at the Haslemere Hall at 2.30pm on Sunday 11 November.

In the words of director, Andy Boughton….”It is the usual daft and silly implausible tale of love and romance and social inequality and everybody living happy ever after. It is set in Venice (well there’s a surprise) and no doubt about Gondoliers; well not really.  It is more about an impoverished Spanish aristocratic old codger and his wife and a chap with a drum, plus also the usual bevy of beautiful maidens spending most of their time sitting on the Rialto Bridge flower arranging, whilst young gondoliers punt up and down the Grand Canal drinking chianti.”

Andy is joined by Justin Luke as MD and Mandy Boughton as choreographer.

This really is a very funny show with social commentary as relevant today as when the play was written.  It has some great characters and is a fabulous opportunity to stretch those vocal chords.
